Position Summary

The Senior Technical Analyst designs, develops and assists in the operational management and implementation of eHealth technology solutions and infrastructure. The position leads, initiates and develops strong working relationships with First Nations communities and with internal and external stakeholders and promotes strong linkages to advance the goals of the communities served. The position provides technical expertise in the evaluation, acquisition, modification, and implementation of eHealth solutions. The position investigates and resolves eHealth technology problems by working with clients, vendor representatives, and other internal/external resources and provides technical expertise to support and negotiate service delivery issues associated with eHealth initiatives.

As a health and wellness organization, the First Nations Health Authority has aligned with the Provincial Public Health Order released on October 14, 2021. We have a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all employees at First Nations Health Authority. This policy requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, installs, configures, maintains, supports, and optimizes devices and eHealth software solutions across British Columbia.
  • Designs, develops, implements and operationalizes new eHealth technology solutions by modifying, developing and installing utilities, developing data communication processes, and configuring client software and hardware.
  • Leads, initiates, maintains, and develops strong and effective working relationships with colleagues, First Nations communities, federal/provincial, and external health system partners, organizations, and stakeholders.
  • Leads the development of materials in support of key partnerships and meetings to ensure accountability and tracking of commitments, actions, and follow-up.
  • Promotes strong linkages and cooperative working relationships to advance the goals of the communities served, and facilitate a continuum in a manner consistent with FNHAs mission, vision, values, as well as the stated objectives and outcomes of each First Nation.
  • Ensures effective communication at all critical stages of the implementation of eHealth technology solutions and provides technical expertise to support and negotiate service delivery issues associated with eHealth initiatives.
  • Collaborates with key internal and external stakeholders, including clients and vendors to design, plan and implement the eHealth technology solutions.
  • Contributes to the development of policies, procedures, security, standards and guidelines in support of eHealth technology solutions.
  • Ensures quality assurance and continuous improvement through monitoring and control and documentation tasks, including the development of status reports, briefing notes, schedules, and presentations.
  • Leads the research to identify new technologies and interfaces with clients, partners, and vendor representatives to evaluate technology/products in order to make recommendations to management. Creates detailed cost-benefit analysis concerning acquisition, modification, and implementation of hardware and software that will improve the quality and reliability of the eHealth solution.
  • Liaises and collaborates with staff from First Nation Communities and other Regional Health Authorities.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

  • A University degree in Computer Science from a recognized institution, college degree with a technical major, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Occupational Certification:

  • Comptia A+ or equivalent experience is required.
  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation is required.
  • Cisco, Meraki, Palo Alto, AWS certifications are assets.

Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in developing, configuring, and managing diverse enterprise solutions from multiple vendors.
  • Must have experience working with Cloud technologies and Cisco networking devices, switches, routers, firewall, video conference and wireless.

Knowledge, Skills & Attributes

  • Knowledge of eHealth technology solutions and industry trends.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP and routing protocols, layer 2 and layer 3 network design principles.
  • Knowledge of Cisco, Meraki, Palo Alto, Zoom, and Community EMR solutions.
  • Knowledge of research and analysis methods.
  • Knowledge of project management approaches to manage and prioritize multiple competing projects/initiatives.
  • Knowledge of customer service approaches in order to collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of BC First Nations health and wellness key issues and opportunities.

The Workplace Health and Safety Branch (WHS) provides the BC Public Service with crucial services.  These include health planning and promotion, occupational safety, occupational health and rehabilitation, disability benefits and administration services.  This work is done through our regional offices based in Vancouver, Victoria, and Kamloops. The mandate of WHS is to build a workforce culture of safety and health by delivering services and information to public service managers and the employees that support them to manage their health and improve workforce productivity.  Within WHS, Occupational Health and Rehabilitation (OHR) delivers specialized services to manage health issues at work and to assist with helping ill and injured employees return to work in a timely, safe, and sustainable manner.  There is a strong focus on improving the accountability and management of health-related absences in the public service. OHR works with all ministries, agencies, and participating outside employers and is staffed with Occupational Health Nurses, Injury Recovery Specialists, Occupational Health Physicians, Medical Case Analysts and Early-Intervention & Return to Work Specialists.

 

This role you will be managing disability cases and providing advice, support, and the coordination of resources for employees and their supervisors.  Working closely with key stakeholders, you will identify opportunities for early intervention to help ill and injured employees return to sustainable work as quickly and as safely as possible. Providing clinical case management services consistent with current occupational health nursing ethics and practice guidelines is also a key function of the role.

 

Qualifications for this role include:

  • Registered Nurse, or Nursing Degree, and Occupational Health Nursing Education; or equivalent combination, from an approved School of Nursing.
  • Must have or be immediately eligible to obtain registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives, formerly known as the College of Registered Nurses’ of British Columbia.
  • One-year occupational health nursing experience.
  • One-year disability case management experience.

The Vancouver Acute Division of Cardiology seeks a full-time academic clinician with expertise in Sports Cardiology and Cardiovascular Rehabilitation. Qualified candidates must have completed training in cardiovascular medicine and be certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in both Internal Medicine and Cardiology, and additional formal training in Sports Cardiology and Cardiovascular Rehabilitation.

 

Candidates with dedicated research training who have completed or enrolled in an advanced research degree at the time of application will be given priority. Preference will be shown to those with a strong record of peer-reviewed publications that demonstrate research productivity, and the ability to obtain extramural funding.

 

The successful candidate is expected to have excellent communication skills, both written and oral. He/she/they will be expected to provide leadership, mentorship, and training as appropriate to medical students, residents, fellowship trainees, and graduate students. Responsibilities include supporting Sports Cardiology British Columbia at UBC Hospital, and the Regional Cardiovascular Rehabilitation clinics. The candidate is expected to commit 40% of their time to research related activities, and apply for external operating and salary support within 3 years of appointment

 

This position will be a clinical faculty position within the Division of Cardiology at the University of British Columbia (UBC). As part of the UBC Division of Cardiology’s academic focus, the successful candidate will be expected to substantially support the development and growth of the UBC Cardiology research and teaching programs as a member of the Center for Cardiovascular Innovation – Centre d’Innovation Cardiovasculaire (CCI-CIC). The UBC Division of Cardiology Head will support the qualified successful applicant to be assigned the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor. However, clinical faculty appointments at UBC will be assigned a rank determined by the Appointments and Promotion Committee of the UBC Department of Medicine.
