Salary $67,083.42 – $76,636.54 annually
The Provincial Health Officer is the senior public health official for BC, and is responsible for monitoring the health of the population of BC and providing independent advice to the ministers and public officials on public health issues. The responsibilities of the Provincial Health Officer (PHO) are outlined in the Public Health Act.
The Senior Data Analyst will play a key role in building BC’s population health surveillance analytics and informatics capacity by leading and undertaking statistical analyses, informatics, and epidemiological design to support the development of population health surveillance initiatives. This role will also encompass representing the ministry in discussions with federal, provincial, and regional partners on population health surveillance initiatives; representing the ministry at population health surveillance and health statistics committees, conferences, or working groups; and providing expert advice on the interpretation to ministry leadership (e.g., Provincial Health Officer ADM for Population and Public Health, Deputy Minister) on population health measurements, analysis, and implications.
Qualifications for this role include:
- Master’s Degree in public health, health sciences, health information sciences, statistics, and computer sciences or other relevant fields and 5 years related experience or Bachelor’s Degree and 7 years related experience.
• Significant experience with data analytics, including data management, manipulation, and statistical modelling (e.g. logistic regression and spatial analysis).
