The Drug Intelligence, Optimization, Outcomes, and Strategy Branch provides strategic leadership and operations in Drug Program management of the Ministry of Health’s PharmaCare program. The branch leads the Ministry’s involvement in national pharmaceutical strategies, oversight and policy development of various specialty areas, and development of various drug use surveillance initiatives. The branch also promotes optimal use of medications and quality prescribing to improved health outcomes through initiatives such as Provincial Academic Detailing (PAD) service, and involvement in the development of provincial clinical practice guidelines.
The Pharmacist provides professional consultation, policy advice, literature evaluation, knowledge translation, and program evaluation for the Pharmaceutical Services Division and participates in the evidence based review process of new drugs, drug classes, and existing drugs on the PharmaCare Program’s benefit list. The Pharmacist requires a high level of understanding of pharmaceutical treatment and medical practice to understand and work with highly trained general practitioners, specialists, other healthcare professionals, patients and Ministry personnel. A highly effective communicator, you provide written communications to the public and senior executive for the Drug Intelligence, Optimization, Outcomes, and Strategy Branch. Organized and results oriented, you are able to deal with the daily pressure of critical timelines in a politically sensitive, highly confidential environment. A skilled collaborator, you establish and maintain productive working relationships with numerous internal and external stakeholders and provide direct support to the Drug Intelligence, Optimization, Outcomes, and Strategy Leadership Team.
Qualifications for this role include:
Graduation from recognized Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences with a minimum Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.
Current registration and license in good standing as a Licensed Pharmacist with the College of Pharmacists of BC.
Considerable (2-5 years) systems experience as a licensed practicing pharmacist in BC retail or hospital pharmacy practice.
Experience in medical literature research, analysis and interpretation.
Advanced degree (e.g., master’s or doctorate in pharmacy) or completion of recognized pharmacy residency program would be an asset.

In 2015, the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) BC launched the Confident Parents: Thriving Kids program. This early intervention program provides preventive and clinical interventions for families of youngsters with behavioural problems in the externalizing spectrum such as aggression, antisocial behaviour, conduct problems, conduct disorder, oppositional defiance, delinquency, and substance use. This empirically supported program is proven to promote healthy child development and reduce moderate behavioural problems. Through structured sessions with trained practitioners, parents and primary caregivers are empowered to become the primary change agents for the child. Confident Parents: Thriving Kids is delivered free of charge to parents and/or caregivers via telephone in the comfort and privacy of their own homes at times convenient to them.
What you will be doing:
We are looking for a Lead, Clinical Services to oversee the Confident Parents, Thriving Kids (CPTK) coaching team, providing effective guidance, coaching, and motivation on a daily basis. This position is the primary contact point for all CPTK Parent Support Supervisors and Coaches. The Lead will receive training and certification in the PMTO model as well as ongoing coaching and support in managing the Supervisors and Coach Practitioners. In this role, you will be required to complete Confident Parents, Thriving Kids (CPTK) certification and actively participate in comprehensive, multi-phased training in PMTO (Parent Management Training – the Oregon Model) and maintain small case load of referred families.
In addition to creating an inspiring and creative team environment with a culture of open communication, setting clear team goals and monitoring those goals for completion, you will also be overseeing day-to-day clinical support and trouble-shooting for CPTK Coach Supervisors and Coach Practitioners. Other duties and responsibilities associated with this position include but are not limited to:
Provide oversight and clinical supervision to CPTK Supervisors by creating individual work plans, and evaluating job performance during regular supervision sessions as well as listening to team members’ feedback and collaboratively resolving any issues or conflicts
Discovering and building strategies to respond to training needs including provide coaching
This role involves handling escalated cases, ensuring safety protocol is adhered to, particularly with concerns surrounding child protection.
Work with clients and practitioners to ensure client commitment to program expectations
Identify potential barriers to effective service delivery and work to remove these barriers
Monitor timelines and quality of reports and documentation as well as monitor team performance and reports on metrics
Attendance at CPTK supervisory seminars in order to promote agency support/assistance for Practitioners.
Provide oversight needed to ensure successful implementation of CPTK such as client outcomes and reviews, problem-solve with practitioners, supervisors and program manager
Serve as liaison across multiple levels (e.g. CMHA leadership, CPTK Program Manager, Supervisors, Practitioners and Community Partners), maintaining and monitoring lines of communication among all relevant parties.
What you bring to the role:
You will have a Master’s degree in Social Work, Counselling Psychology or Child and Youth Care or related discipline and at least 2 year’s staff supervisory experience, preferably in child/family services setting, along with at least 3 years’ experience delivering in child and family services. An equivalent combination of professional experience and education may be considered. We are looking for someone who will give a long term commitment to the project, (2-3 years).
In addition, you will have:
Knowledge of the principles and practices of public health, health education, and health literacy, particularly in multiple settings or with various populations;
Knowledge of community outreach;
Knowledge of the mental health and addictions systems in BC;
Cultural competency
Knowledge of specialized and personal computer systems and databases, Internet, and software applications, particularly Microsoft Office.
Non-judgmental, flexible, creative and committed to working with and supporting Practitioners, parents and primary caregivers in challenging circumstances, displaying good judgment, empathy, ethics and a sense of social justice;
Available and eager to participate in demanding learning environment, with a commitment to strength-based approach, and to research and evidence based practices, and have the ability to receive and incorporate feedback and be willing to have work recorded;
Proven work experience as a team leader or supervisor, with excellent communication skills both verbally and written.
Comfortable and knowledgeable about behavioral approaches, and have several years’ experience as a group facilitator and experience implementing evidence based interventions.
This position requires strong organization and time management skills;
Personal experience with mental health or addiction issues and services, through self or loved ones, is an asset in this role.
Ability to work flexible hours as required by parents and primary caregivers. This includes working regular evenings and weekends.
Working Conditions
This position is located in Vancouver. Please note that due to the confidential nature of support services provided to families, telecommuting is not an option in this position. All work will take place at the CMHA office. The usual work week is 37.5 with evening and weekend hours as required. This position is dependent on continued funding.

The Qualified Exercise Professional delivers telehealth physical activity services to the public, health professionals and the media in British Columbia. Qualifications for this role include:
Undergraduate degree in Exercise Science (e.g. Bachelor of Kinesiology) or equivalent.
Certified Exercise Physiologist, certified in good standing with the Health and Fitness Federation of Canada and with the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology or with the American College of Sports Medicine. Advanced certification or completion of additional training or internship in exercise science is preferred.
Minimum two (2) years as a practicing certified exercise physiologist with experience providing physical activity information, guidance (e.g., exercise prescription, precautions, resources, tools) and health screening for a wide range of clients, including children, athletes, families, older adults, and individuals living with chronic medical conditions. Experience in a tele-health environment is preferred.
Work experience in physical activity related education and behavioural counselling acquired in a variety of settings. Experience in lifestyle counselling by telephone is preferred. Experience in family-centred care working with children in the area of weight management is preferred.
Significant experience in applied research and critical appraisal of the literature and in writing practice guidelines and public and professional resources.

In this role, you will work under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer and the Senior Director, Policy, Research and Government Relations to develop a 3-year operational plan to support our Branches and BC Division Office to work together to strengthen the overall impact of CMHA in BC, and to strengthen our community outreach and engagement. The role involves coordinating and overseeing the Branch-BC Division Agreement and accreditation activities and acting as a resource for Branch Board Presidents and ED’s to support the success of a number of joint initiatives. About You
You are a university graduate with 3-5 years of experience in quality assurance, governance, community development, stakeholder relations, and/or community engagement (or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience). You have experience in project management, you care about and are skilled at designing effective processes that support collaboration, and you have an eye for detail when planning, communicating, and reviewing budgets and financial reports. You have strong relationship-building skills, facilitation experience, and expertise navigating complex relationships, ideally in the non-profit sector. Knowledge of the mental health and addictions systems in BC, or personal experience through yourself or someone close to you, would also be valuable in this role.

Improving Usability, Safety and Patient Outcomes with Health Information Technology is the working theme for the 2019 international conference being held in Victoria, BC, Canada. Health information technologies are revolutionizing and streamlining healthcare and their uptake is rising dramatically. The variety and range of technologies and software applications is considerable and there is increasing demand for implementation of healthcare IT in hospitals, clinics, homes and in the virtual space of mHealth, pervasive healthcare and social media. However, to effectively implement these technologies scientific research and industrial and governmental supports must be strongly in place in order to transform healthcare and build capacity at the regional, national and global levels. The conference will take a multi-perspective view about what is needed in order to move technology along to real sustained and widespread use in moving research findings and approaches into practice. Enhancing Public Health Organizational Capacity to Improve Health Equity
The National Collaborating Centre for Determinants of Health (NCCDH) is seeking public health departments to partner in a two-year project (project overview) to increase effective organizational capacity for health equity-oriented action. The project will combine an international learning circle and three public health departments acting as practice sites. Le Centre de collaboration nationale des déterminants de la santé (CCNDS) est à la recherche de services de santé publique prêts à jouer le rôle de partenaires dans le cadre d’un projet de deux ans (survol du projet) qui vise à renforcer la capacité organisationnelle d’agir sur l’équité en santé. Le projet comportera entre autres un cercle d’apprentissage international et trois services de santé publique qui joueront le rôle de sites d’essai.
