UNIVERSITY OF VICTORIA SCHOOL OF PUBLIC HEALTH AND SOCIAL POLICY – Job Opportunity

The University of Victoria School of Public Health and Social Policy invites applications from qualified individuals for one Assistant Teaching Professor (ATP) position.

The School of Public Health and Social Policy offers two programs, the Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Health and Community Services and the Master of Public Health (MPH). Both are offered through a distributed learning environment on-line with strategic on-site components. Our programs place an emphasis on social and structural determinants of health and have a strong social justice orientation. Areas of focus include Ageing, Disability, Indigenous Peoples’ Health, International and Global Health, Social Policy and Public Health Nursing.

Candidates for appointment to the ATP position should possess a minimum of a Master’s degree in a relevant field, and have substantial teaching experience in fields related to health, community services or public health at a university or college. Candidates must have the demonstrated capacity through previous online and/or face-to-face teaching and learning experience to teach within the curriculum of both undergraduate and graduate programs, and have the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and contribute substantially to the development of the School. As the School’s programs emphasize the integration of theory with practice skills and real world learning through practicum experiences, health and social services sector management, planning or policy experience are also highly desired in a successful candidate. Experience in the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) is considered an asset. Candidates should have knowledge and experience related to online learning, including instructional technology skills for distance program delivery. A successful candidate will also share the School’s commitment and sensitivity to respect for diversity.

A letter of application, complete curriculum vitae, teaching dossier and contact information for three references should be sent by February 28, 2017, to Dr. Catherine Worthington, Director, University of Victoria, School of Public Health & Social Policy via email: phspdirector@uvic.ca.
