Request for Proposal on BC Bid

Last week Climate Action Secretariat posted a Request for Proposal on BC Bid (http://www.bcbid.gov.bc.ca/open.dll/welcome?language=En) entitled “Climate Change Impacts and Population Health.” It can be found under Ministry of Environment and solicitation number RFPPA17JHQ-014. Proposals are due back on September 23, 2016 by 2 pm. Here is a  brief summary of the requested services, but interested people should go to BC Bid for more detailed information and contact information at Climate Action Secretariat.

The purpose of this project is to develop accessible communications materials on how population health in British Columbia (B.C.) might be affected by climate change, such as changes in: climate extremes; the frequency and severity of climate-related natural disasters such as forest fires, drought and flooding; air and water quality; and the distribution, quantity and types of pests & diseases.

The contractor will summarize existing knowledge from B.C. and similar jurisdictions including:
· Current knowledge on the relationship between climate events and changes and health outcomes,
· Gaps in knowledge and opportunities for further research,
· Key current or future vulnerabilities,
· Adaptive capacity and opportunities (including existing tools, programs etc.)
· Intervention opportunities to improve public health in a changing climate

The contractor will produce communications materials (fact sheets or a similar communications product) that concisely and effectively communicate the issues and opportunities in a broadly accessible format.
Products:
· Draft fact sheets & draft report; (results of research)
· Fact Sheets (or similar)
· Narrative Report (supporting report for fact sheets, including descriptive analysis)
