PUBLIC POLICY ANALYST

What your role will look like

Reporting to the Public Policy Manager and working closely with the Senior Director, Policy, Research and Planning, you will support strategic engagement for a province-wide policy campaign, plan and develop multi-stakeholder projects, and lead committee and event planning for the Public Policy team. Through this unique opportunity, you will grow your analytical capacity by working on policy-related initiatives and develop your technical capacity by supporting community engagement and campaign initiatives.

In addition to the above, you will research and develop briefs, position papers and submissions for the organization’s public policy work, as well as provide policy research and analysis for projects to privacy and information sharing and mental health and addictions.  You will create public policy content for materials with a wide reaching audience, including government and elected officials.

You will embrace the voice of people with mental health issues and addictions through leading committees and stakeholder groups, co-ordinating policy related events, including stakeholder engagement and training, international conference planning and event planning and logistics.

What you will bring to the team

You are a University graduate, preferably with graduate level training in an appropriate discipline, such as public policy, health sciences, psychology and you have 1-2 years experience in public engagement and stakeholder consultation, or a strong desire to develop in this area

This position requires superior writing, analysis and research skills along with strong oral communication and facilitation skills.  You have the ability to work collaboratively and manage relationships with stakeholders and leadership. You are comfortable multitasking and prioritizing work to meet tight deadines. A personal commitment to high-quality work, a professional demeanor, diplomacy and good judgement are important in this role.

Knowledge of the mental health and addictions systems in BC would be very valuable.  Personal experience with mental health issues and services, through self or loved ones, is an asset in this role

We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, along with flexible work hours and a friendly and engaging work environment.  Located in downtown Vancouver, this 37.5 hour a week position will require some flexibility and occasional travel.
