Reimagine Health Program at RADIUS-Recruitment Now Open!

Do you know any inspiring people in your community who are looking to address health challenges in their community through great ideas?

If you do, we’re recruiting for the first RADIUS Reimagine Health Program cohort and we’d love for you to pass the opportunity along to them!

This new ideation program is part of the RADIUS Health Promotion Lab. It is a six-month cohort-based program that supports community members and leaders to explore health equity issues in their communities and build ideas to prevent chronic diseases. Through Reimagine Health, participants are supported to produce new and better initiatives that address the systems that actively influence health disparities.

The deadline for applications is December 16, 2019

Interested applicants can find more info to apply here. We are also hosting two info sessions, in Surrey and Vancouver, which are open to the public. The first session takes place this Thursday at 6:30pm in Surrey.

We look forward to welcoming the first cohort in 2020 and appreciate your time and support helping us find them!

KidsBoost Immunity Wins Partnership Award at Premier’s Awards

KidsBoost Immunity was named finalist at this year’s Premier’s Awards. The Partnership Award recognizes joint ventures or multi-party initiatives between BC Public Service organizations and organizations in the broader public sector, other levels of government, First Nations communities, or in the private or not-for-profit sectors. In advance of the conference, we are delighted to release our final full program* on our website for your viewing pleasure. Don’t forget to get your free flu shots! On Friday November 15^th, 2019 we will be hosting a flu shot clinic in Chateau Mouton Rothschild. Public health nurses will be on site to provide the vaccine and any person attending the conference is welcome to take advantage of the on-site flu shot clinic and stay healthy this winter.

In the afternoon of Thursday, November 14^th, 2019 we hope you will join us for our annual social networking event, where we will be hosting our poster sessions, exhibitor booths and 2019 awards ceremony. Enjoy some free non-alcoholic refreshments and delicious appetizers while networking with likeminded individuals and learning about the latest research and projects ongoing in our province and beyond. Indigenous Human Rights Set in B.C. Law

New legislation will put B.C. laws in line with the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. This is a historic moment for everyone in B.C.

B.C.’s new law recognizes and respects the human rights of Indigenous peoples and will help to build a stronger B.C.

It makes sure Indigenous peoples are a part of the decisions that affect them, their families and their territories. It provides a way forward on reconciliation with a plan that will work for everyone in B.C.

Indigenous peoples and the B.C. government are building a better future, together. That means good jobs and opportunities that benefit all, while protecting the land, air and water.

Working together, we’re making real progress.

Foundry invites Expressions of Interest for a health and social service centre for youth

Foundry is a network of community-based centres and online tools and resources that enable young British Columbians to access mental health and substance use supports, primary care, peer supports and social services from a single place. Foundry is creating an experience of care that embraces, empowers and supports youth. It’s a place where young people and their families are welcomed without judgment.

BC communities now have an opportunity to establish a Foundry health
and social service centre for youth age 12-24 and their families.

From now until November 26th 2019, Foundry is inviting
Expressions of Interest (EOI) through foundrybc.ca/expansion2019.

Non-profit and health and social system agencies serving youth are eligible to submit an EOI through foundrybc.ca/expansion2019.

As part of the Ministry of Mental Health and Addictions’ (MMHA’s) “A Pathway to Hope: B.C.’s mental health roadmap,” Foundry is looking to partner with organizations across BC to open and operate a minimum of six new Foundry centres.

Currently, eight Foundry centres are open in Vancouver, Campbell River, Kelowna, Vancouver North Shore (North and West Vancouver), Prince George, Victoria, Penticton and Abbotsford, with three more in development in Terrace, Richmond, and Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows. Interested organizations can learn more about submitting an EOI at foundrybc.ca/expansion2019.
