Clinical Academic Adult Congenital & Interventional Structure Cardiology
The Vancouver Acute Division of Cardiology seeks a full-time academic Adult Congenital and Structural Cardiologist. Qualified candidates must have completed training in cardiovascular medicine and be certified or be eligible for certification by either the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or the BC College of Physicians and Surgeons. The candidate should have at least 2 years of adult congenital heart disease training and structural interventional cardiology training including complex transcatheter aortic, mitral, and tricuspid procedures.
Candidates with dedicated research training who have completed or enrolled in an advanced research degree at the time of application will be given priority. Preference will be shown to those with research experience in clinical trials and related methodology, and a strong record of peer-reviewed publications that demonstrate research productivity and the ability to obtain extramural funding, with an international reputation. The candidate should have experience with multicentre trials including a focus on structural heart disease and related disciplines to support the research mandate of the Centre for Cardiovascular Innovation – Centre d ’Innovation Cardiovasculaire (CCI-CIC).
The successful candidate is expected to have excellent communication skills, both written and oral. He/she/they will be expected to provide leadership, mentorship, and training as appropriate to medical students, residents, fellowship trainees, and graduate students. Responsibilities include supporting the Vancouver Structural Heart Disease and Pacific Adult Congenital Heart Disease Program with care provision at both Vancouver General and St. Paul’s Hospitals, including coverage of inpatient services at both sites. The candidate is expected to commit 30-40% of their time to research related activities, and apply for external operating and salary support within 3 years of appointment.
This position will be a mid-career or senior clinical faculty position within the Division of Cardiology at the University of British Columbia (UBC). As part of the UBC Division of Cardiology’s academic focus, the successful candidate will be expected to substantially support the development and growth of the UBC Cardiology research and teaching programs as a member of CCI-CIC. The UBC Division of Cardiology Head will support the successful applicant to be assigned the rank reflecting seniority based on the candidates’ credentials; however, clinical faculty appointments at UBC will be assigned a rank determined by the Appointments and Promotion Committee of the UBC Department of Medicine.
