We’re looking for the right person to help us GROW (all puns intended)! Help plant your vision of educational farming by managing our schoolyard farms and food lands to be places of production and learning; a farm oasis in the city. Our work starts with the soil, and our sites are the starting place for all of our programs. You’ll get a chance to help frame and create what educational farms should be on school grounds in the lower mainland.
In this role, you will be our Farm Manager, growing and sharing food with the community. You will lead our team towards our production and educational growing goals. Fresh Roots’ farms have been in production for five years, and we’re looking for you to help steward and grow our schoolyard farms into the future. For all those who have registered, check your inboxes! We’ve just distributed the electronic versions of our conference program; it is packed with information about our world renowned plenary speakers, detailed schedules of both days, information on this year’s exhibitors, location information and more! We are excited to announce the final wave of plenary session speakers, these experts in their respective fields will speak about their current work creating safe and inclusive communities during our plenary sessions on violence prevention, injury prevention, health equity in practice and fostering community inclusion and cultural safety. On Thursday November 15th, 2018 from 3:45pm to 5:00pm we will be hosting our networking event concurrently with our exhibitor’s booths and poster sessions. This is a relaxed event where one can enjoy some complimentary appetizers and a glass of wine or beer from our cash bar while networking with likeminded individuals, learning about new research and projects across BC from one of our 18 poster presentations and perusing the exhibitor’s booths to learn more about our partner organizations and maybe score some free swag! This year’s call for abstracts exceeded our expectations for the number and quality of submissions and we thank everyone who submitted theirs. The Community Action Initiative (CAI) is looking for a Project Manager
The Community Action Initiative (CAI) was created to support community-led projects that promote mental health, prevent substance use problems and promote effective treatment and support for individuals and families experiencing mental health and/or substance use challenges in BC. We a take a localized, collaborative approach by creating networks and encouraging dialogue within and across sectors. Our goal is to bring together diverse community-based organizations to work to establish innovative, community-generated models for delivering mental health and/or substance use services in BC.
The Project Manager’s primary role will be to support the implementation and management of a province-wide project. The project includes the implementation, management and administration of a $4-million grants program in addition to supporting evaluation and knowledge exchange activities. The aim of the project is to support community-led opioid overdose response efforts across the province of British Columbia. This project is being delivered in partnership with the Ministry of Mental Health and Addictions Overdose Emergency Response Centre (OERC) as a part of the broader provincial effort. This position will require the successful candidate to work effectively with diverse stakeholders engaged in the response including NGO’s, provincial government bodies and people with a lived experience and their families. This position reports directly to the CAI Secretariat Director.
