Northeast Medical Health Officer – Northern Health – Fort St. John or Dawson Creek, BC

Northern Health is the publicly funded healthcare provider for the northern two-thirds of the Canadian province of British Columbia. Reporting to the Chief Medical Health Officer, the Medical Health Officer (MHO) provides leadership, support and advice in community medicine (including epidemiology, health promotion, disease prevention, health protection, and advocacy), and administration to various levels of the organization. The MHO works throughout the Northeast Region with various levels of government, partners and other agencies to assess the health needs of the populations and develop and implement strategies to improve the health of the population.

The ideal candidate is a physician leader in community medicine that is committed to improving the health of those living in Northern British Columbia through their unique focus on population health and primary health care. In addition, he or she will be a sound communicator with a natural ability to build relationships. Key to the success of this individual will be their ability to think critically and make informed decisions.

Fort St. John and Dawson Creek are easily accessible by road from Prince George and Edmonton. There are direct flights to Fort St. John from Prince George, Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver. You can fly direct to Vancouver and Terrace/Kitimat from Dawson Creek.
