The Canadian Nutrition Society (CNS) along with its standing committee, the Canadian Malnutrition Task Force (CMTF), is seeking a dynamic and innovative program manager to oversee the development of a range of assessment tools and other resources to be used in a clinical setting and to support patients and families,  plan and implement public awareness activities, engage and support a network of provincial and national champions, and to support advocacy and government relations activities.

 

Reporting to the CNS Executive Director and the CMTF Advisory Committee Chairs, this individual has proven track record in program/resource development, partnership building, interpersonal skills and working with volunteer committees.  Being knowledgeable and having direct experience working and supporting those in clinical settings is required.

ABOUT THE JOB

The Accounts Payable Clerk reports to the Director, Finance & Administration, and is responsible for processing invoices received for payment in an accurate, efficient and timely manner. A number of related tasks are included in this function, such as coding and matching of invoices/receipts, ensuring approval of invoices, filing and other duties as assigned.

 

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Processing accounts payable (including verifying approval of invoices, data entry/printing and mailing cheques;
  • Ensure correct coding and matching of invoices/receipts
  • Reconcile vendor statements and communicate with vendors and/or department leaders regarding any discrepancies;
  • Reconciliation of AP sub ledger with G/L control;
  • Set up and maintain AP vendor records and database;
  • Keep track, process and reconcile payments and expenditures, in compliance with financial policies and procedures;
  • Scanning, filing, storage and organization of accounting documents.

ABOUT ABOUT YOU

You have successfully completed post-secondary accounting or bookkeeping courses and have a minimum of 2 years work experience in an accounting related role (preferably Accounts Payable). An equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience may be considered.

You will also bring the following skills, knowledge and ability to the role:

  • A solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounts payable/receivable principles;
  • Strong organizational skills and thrive in a fast paced, deadline driven environment;
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Able to deal with confidential information with a high degree of diplomacy;
  • Positive and professional attitude and the ability to work cooperatively with others;
  • Basic understanding of applicability of GST/HST/QST to invoices in various provinces;
  • Strong MS Excel skills are necessary; at a minimum, the candidate must currently be using Excel on a regular basis as part of their current role;
  • Strong team player, “can-do” attitude; flexible and efficient to get the job done;
  • Excellent data entry skills along with a knack for numbers;
  • Proficiency in English and in MS Office and Sage ERP (Accpac).

 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position is located at the CMHA BC Division office located in downtown Vancouver and is a short walk from the Burrard skytrain station.

  • This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week) temporary position;
  • The rate of pay is $25 per hour.

This position is a unionized position under the Community Subsector Association Collective Agreement

A hands-on role helping children and youth in your community.

 

Youth Forensic Psychiatric Services (YFPS) is mandated to provide inpatient and outpatient Court-ordered and Court- related assessment and treatment services to young persons pursuant to the Youth Criminal Justice Act as well as other relevant federal and provincial statutes. YFPS also provides services to young persons found unfit to stand trial and those youth found not criminally responsible due to a mental disorder (NCRMD), pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada.

 

Services are provided through outpatient clinics and contracted service providers located throughout the province. An inpatient assessment unit (IAU), located in Burnaby provides mental health services to BYCS. Regional outpatient clinics located in Burnaby, Langley, Vancouver, Victoria, Nanaimo, Prince George, Kamloops and Kelowna service the five macro regions of the North, the Interior, Vancouver Island, South Burnaby and the Lower Mainland.

 

Assessment and treatment services may include specialized treatment services for youth who may have committed violent or sexual offences; have offended and are experiencing mental health, behavioural, drug and/or alcohol addictions problems; and who are in custody facilities in need of mental health services.

Qualifications for this role include:

 

  • Masters degree or higher, MSW preferred; OR equivalent education and training (e.g. M.Ed (Counselling) and MA (Clinical or Counselling Psychology) OR comparable graduate degree at the Master’s level).

NOTE: If your degree was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). Confirmation for equivalency for your degree is required for you to be considered. Please indicate in your resume (include a copy of the approval; if in progress), proof must be provided on or by the closing date of the posting).

NOTE: Successful MSW prepared candidates are required to seek and obtain clinical registration with the Board of Registration for Social Workers (BRSW) within 6 months of having completed the required 3000 hours of supervised clinical practice.

  • Minimum one year clinical experience working within an adolescent mental health environment and for providing a wide range of outpatient-oriented assessment and treatment services.
  • Will be required to work evenings and weekends.
