Webinar – PASS: Expanding physical activity reporting to incorporate sedentary behaviour and sleep
April 6, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 pm
To better align with current evidence that all forms of movement have an impact on chronic disease prevention, the Public Health Agency of Canada (the Agency) has broadened the scope of physical activity surveillance to include sedentary behaviour and sleep behaviours, as well as their risk and protective factors. This webinar will review the process undertaken by the Agency to develop the Physical Activity, Sedentary Behaviour and Sleep (PASS) Indicator Framework (IF). A goal of the PASS IF was to identify the robust indicators of PASS behaviours at the individual, family, community and society levels situated in the environments in which they occur, including the home, work, school, community, and transportation. The presentation will include an overview of the Agency’s role in physical activity surveillance in Canada, including the transition from leisure time physical activity to 24-hour movement reporting, as well as describe the PASS IF, from its inception to its future role in surveillance.
