Corporate Mapping Project – Eric Pineault presentation
May 18, 2016 - May 20, 2016
Upcoming free talks by Éric Pineault in Vancouver and Victoria. These are the first public events for the Corporate Mapping Project, which, over the next five years, will examine the power and influence wielded by the fossil fuel industry in Canada.
EXTREME OIL: Corporate power, tar sands expansion, and the capitalist pressure to extract
Éric Pineault is a Professor at the Institute of Environmental Sciences and of Sociology at l’Université du Québec à Montréal.
Éric’s talk will focus on the proposed Energy East pipeline, which would carry tar sands crude from Alberta to Canada’s east coast. He will discuss the economics and politics of tar sands expansion as he follows the pipeline route from where it runs along the St Lawrence in his home province of Québec, back to its starting point in Alberta.
