Leadership Competencies for Public Health Practice in Canada

Over the last few years, the NCCDH has been exploring public health leadership on the social determinants of health through a range of activities including case studies, literature reviews and knowledge exchange events.

We are pleased to co-announce the release of the Leadership Competencies for Public Health practice in Canada. The development of the competencies was led by the Community Health Nurses of Canada in partnership with the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors and the Manitoba Public Health Managers Network over a 3 year period. The NCCDH was a member of the project’s national expert advisory committee.

The initial release of the new public health leadership competencies took place at the 10th National Community Health Nurses of Canada Conference in Winnipeg on June 24, 2015. Hard copies are available through the Community Health Nurses of Canada and will soon be accessible on their website. You can find out more about the leadership competencies at http://nccdh.ca/blog/entry/public-health-leadership-competencies-for-public-health-practice-in-canada.
