Reporting to the Executive Director, Population Health, the Manager for Healthy Public Policy (HPP) oversees the development and implementation of strategic policy initiatives aimed at improving determinants of health in the VCH region, and the financial, human and operational resources assigned to this portfolio. Working in close collaboration with Medical Health Officers (MHOs), the Executive Director of Population Health and other leaders in VCH’s Office of the Chief Medical Health Officer (OCMHO), the Manager for HPP is responsible for the development of the OCMHO’s long-term strategic plan to improve the determinants of health and for the planning, implementation, maintenance and evaluation of various strategic policy initiatives and programs ensuring that they align with population health best practices and meet Provincial targets for healthy living and healthy communities.

Reporting to the Manager of Healthy Public Policy (HPP), the Senior Policy Lead provides regional leadership on policy advocacy, analysis, and monitoring to support the advancement and impact of health promotion work across VHC Communities of Care. Working closely with Medical Health Officers, Directors and staff across the Office of the Chief MHO, this role is responsible for leading the co-creation, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of Regional Healthy Public Policy initiatives. At the direction of Medical Health Officers, the Executive Director of Population Health, or HPP Manager, HPP Leads provide expertise in thematic areas of core concern to public health, and seeks to influence the development, mobilization, and adoption of healthy public policy within and through key sectors and settings across the VCH region. These include but are not limited to: government, non-governmental organizations, private sector, schools and other early childhood environments, and other sectors and settings as identified.
