Systems & Operations Manager — The Working Group on Indigenous Food Sovereignty (WGIFS)

The Working Group on Indigenous Food Sovereignty (WGIFS) was founded in 2006 out of a recognized need to carry Indigenous voice and vision in food systems research, action, and policy. We advocate for systems transformation and Indigenous food sovereignty through the re-conceptualization of frameworks for foodland conservation and food security within a more holistic, regenerative, life-giving paradigm.

The WGIFS is in an exciting period of change, where we aim to scale out, up, and deep in our work. Central to our success in doing so will be hiring a “Systems & Operations Manager,” who will help to develop and maintain our administrative, financial, technical and human capacity. This position offers the opportunity to support deep systems transformation, decolonizing food systems, and organizational change-making.

Any questions can be directed to the Curator of the WGIFS, Dawn Morrison: dawn.morrison@wgifs.org

Huntington Disease Month

For many years, families affected by Huntington disease (HD) have kept it a secret due to the negative perceptions and biases surrounding the illness.
The #LightItUp4HD campaign presents an excellent opportunity for individuals with HD to raise awareness, build relationships, receive encouragement from their communities, and move ahead with a sense of pride and respect.
Every May is designated as HD Awareness Month in Canada, and landmarks and buildings are encouraged to participate in the #LightItUp4HD campaign.
To learn more about #LightItUp4HD, and to see a list of participating sites go here: https://www.huntingtonsociety.ca/2023-light-it-up-4-hd/
