Can Public Engagement Change Systems? October 6th – SFU Vancouver

October 6, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

$8 – $15

Addressing our toughest challenges—such as climate change, housing affordability, inequality or xenophobia—requires broad public will and action. Yet, these challenges are also rooted in far-reaching and complex systems that include many different institutions and networks. To bring about the changes we need, we have to understand and work with both systems and democratic publics.
Join us on October 6 for a dialogue on public engagement and systems change with thought leaders Joe Hsueh (Harvard University), Carolyn Lukensmeyer (National Institute for Civil Discourse) and Alex Ryan (Govt. of Alberta CoLab). Facilitated by Centre for Dialogue director Shauna Sylvester, this interactive conversation will address complex questions, such as how citizen engagement initiatives can change the systems that affect our most difficult problems.

Location: SFU Vancouver – Harbour Centre, Room 1400-1430 (Segal Centre)
Admission: $15+GST Adults | $8+GST Students/Seniors
